5 Mistakes Professional Gold Coast Removalists Know How to Avoid

Nerang-Removals

When you are making a big move, you need to make sure that everything goes smoothly. After all, many studies have estimated that one of the most stressful things that you can do in your life is to move house. When you have finally sold your home – and found the perfect house to move your family into – you need to start thinking about the actual moving process. We at Gold Coast Removalists know the five biggest mistakes that some of our colleagues, and many of our customers, often make. Keep reading so that you can learn about them now, and so you don’t have to suffer through the dilemma they can bring!

1. Think carefully about when you want to move

There is a huge rush during certain times of the year when people want to move and this often means that removal companies, storage companies, and other professionals in the business will get booked up ridiculously early. The most popular times around the Gold Coast are usually during late spring and the summer months because the longer days means that you have more daylight time to organise everything. At this time of year, the weather is also more pleasant (and less rainy), so many people don’t mind moving. This means that you will need to get in early if you also want to move during this time of year.

2. You booked removals without getting an estimate

This is such a simple thing to do, and thousands of people that move do it – but it can be absolutely catastrophic for your budget. After all, did you agree to buy your new home without talking about the price? We didn’t think so, so why on earth would you do this for your removal company? You should always ensure that any potential removing company for your belongings gives you a full estimate in writing, so that you can always refer back to it.

3. Have you forgotten insurance?

Moving home can be incredibly complicated, and especially so because many factors are completely out of your control. This can often mean that things go wrong that you could have never foreseen, and you do not want to be blamed for them. That is why you should always ensure that you do not forget to get insurance as you start to plan your move. You should also remember to ask your removalists whether or not they have insurance – because if they don’t, and one of their employees ends up hurting themselves during your move, you could have a lawsuit on your hands.

4. Check the small print

There will be some removalists in the Gold Coast area that do not want to put themselves under the pressure of transporting your inherited jewellery that you were given by your great great grandmother – or that expensive and incredibly delicate China set. They may even have a small clause at the very bottom stating that they will not take them. That means that you will need to make sure that there will be room with you for these items.

5. Last but by no means least: don’t forget your pets!

If you have beloved pets, you will need to think really carefully about how you are going to move them. Many small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs will not be concerned as long as they do not realise that they are in a car, but some dogs and cats can get very stressed. There are some specialist removalists that have a great amount of experience in moving pets, so talk to them about your concerns.
